The Capitol Theatre in Moncton, New Brunswick is an 800 seat, restored 1920's-era vaudeville house on Main Street that serves as the centre for cultural entertainment for the city. Having been converted to a cinema early in its history, the theatre was purchased by the City of Moncton in 1991, restored to its original look commencing in 1992, and was officially reopened as a performance space in 1993.
Not only does the Capitol Theatre presents a wide array of performances to meet the various tastes and ages of its patrons, it also makes sure the shows can be enjoyed by everyone. The theatre routinely hosts the live stage productions of Theatre New Brunswick, as well as symphony orchestra, dance performances, national touring musicians, and performers offering their entertainment in both French and English languages.

Moncton's Capitol Theatre is often host to gala evenings developed by local community organizations catering to the performing arts, or fund raising. Moncton's growing convention and trade show venues are including events at the Capitol Theatre to entertain visiting guests, visitors, and delegates alike.
One of the first things that visitors to "The Capitol" notice is the rich and vibrant colors that greet them in the entrance. Moving inside there is the over 100 year old formal curtain arrangement that is part of the folklore and history of this period building that once served as Moncton's cultural icon at the turn of the last century, long before electronic entertainment and radio-TV broadcasts became common.
